San. Leolino, Bucine (Arezzo)

Tenuta il Leccio di Fabbri Alberto

We cultivate vines and olives as we have done for hundreds of years in this area. The aim is to preserve and respect, to share the best, with the least disturbance to nature and, consequently, to the raw materials, without renouncing evolution, aimed exclusively at a product as honest as possible.

About me

My roots are here, ignited by the teachings of my grandparents and my father, who in turn passed on their knowledge, matured in different climates, with different means and methods, but with similar problems.
The appreciation of the beauty of our places and traditions is the materialisation of my passion for the production of wine and oil.

Despite my studies and career in a completely different sector, in 2017 I realised my desire to pay homage and do justice to our land and our culture, trying to pass on the best of the teachings I have received not only from my relatives but also from all the other masters I have met and continue to work with along the way.

VIR

(Vigna I Renai) 100% Sangiovese.

A selection of 100% Sangiovese grapes, harvested by hand when perfectly ripe, the entire vinification and ageing process takes place in stainless steel barrels to enhance the purity of the fruit, without altering the identity of the vintage, but rather to elevate it to the highest possibilities and opportunities.

VINTAGES

The winter was quite mild, with abundant and consistent rainfall.
The rather cold spring, on the other hand, extended rainfall into June, creating an excellent water supply, which, with average summer temperatures and excellent temperature swings throughout the summer, but especially in September, caused the grapes to ripen regularly, creating a textbook vintage.
The wine thick, full-bodied, intense, well balanced by acidity.

It will be remembered as one of the hottest but mostly dry years in recent history.
However, the classical budding allowed for excellent vegetation, which will protect the grapes during the warmer months.
The rains of the first half of September rehydrated the soil and the grapes, allowing a regular ripening process.
Wine of the vintage with excellent concentration.

A rather harsh winter and a spring with good to abundant rainfall allowed the vines to sprout with great vigour, reaching full shoot and bunch growth.
Average summer temperatures, without any particular heat peaks, with excellent excursions, allowed a slow and progressive ripening.
A wine of great structure and complexity, with acidity in line with the ripening process.

A very variable vintage, with a cold winter with abundant rainfall, a rather rainy spring and a May/June that was one of the wettest in the last thirty years, which put a strain on the quality of the grape closure, but was compensated for by meticulous work on the canopy in the vineyard.
A hot summer with sporadic rainfall, but at a very distant cadence, slowed down the ripening process, with a fruit that was nevertheless unexpectedly complex due to the generally cool climate.
A wine with a good intensity of aromas and a great richness of tannins, made more velvety than usual by the many rains.

The winter was mild, but very wet, with vegetative emergence in line with expectations, good rainfall and normal temperatures.
The summer was hot, but not scorching, until August, when the rains arrived and the temperature dropped, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and with great quality.
The absence of man’s frenetic wanderings for many months in much of the world seems to have contributed to this.
The wine reflects the balance and quality of the vintage.

A fairly wet and harsh winter, without too many peaks in either minimum or maximum temperatures, unlike the spring, which put even the best microclimates at risk of frost, and a continuous temperature swing of almost two months between April and May, which has become the norm in recent years.
A hot summer, with major peaks in July and August, also above average, but with little and fortunately localised rainfall, supported a splendid September, with balanced and regular ripening.

I RENAI

100% Sangiovese

The best grapes of the vintage, 100% Sangiovese, harvested by hand and selected with very low yields per plant that will be able to give more quality to the maturation path, fermented in stainless steel barrels and then aged for about 12 /18 months in French oak barriques not new allowing a smooth evolution of the wine without giving an excessive aromatic contribution compared to the use of salt in cooking, which if well dosed goes unnoticed.

VIVO

EVO OIL

Vivo is the line of oils that the year has given us, allowing us to take advantage of the exclusive sampling of cultivars that have manifested themselves to the best of their vegetative and productive potential, to produce an oil made with the harvesting and pressing of olives, planned and specific, selecting the best mills closest to the harvesting area, equipped with the most modern machinery.

This allows us to bring to the table a functional food, endowed with nutritional and nutritive properties of great complexity.

The Moraiolo and Frantoio varieties, thanks to their greater presence in the various parcels, are always available; Leccino, Correggiolo and other varieties are only available in years when an optimal ratio between quantity and harvesting method/time is allowed.

CAMPO FORTE

OIL

The heart of the parcel is flat in false flatness, with a couple of terraced creeks, sandwiched between the highest hills of the San Leolino olive-growing district, the plantings made of course not in recent times have always testified to productivity and quality giving unequivocally the aforementioned name to the micro area.
